Do what you CAN in each moment!

aarguin

HARD lesson I have had to learn through my 16 year chronic illness journey is how to PACE MY ENERGY! I’ve come to realize now just how much I am able to do despite the severity of my condition with a different mindset… I had to let go of my pre-illness mindset where I set out to do a task and do it to completion before moving to the next… that simply often doesn’t work in chronic illness life.

If I set out to do the dishes - sometimes I can only wash a few or half load the dishwasher and I need to sit back down… sometimes I can only get the clothes out of the dryer into the basket and get the basket half-way to the bedroom… sometimes it takes me an entire week to dust, vacuum and mop one room of my house when i used to clean my entire house in ONE day years ago.

And you know what? It is ALL OKAY!… I do not get mad at myself, or my body, or my situation… I have learned that only makes things worse… I just accept where I am at this season of my life… I do the best I can each day and know that it is all good enough and that is it. Life with chronic illness is extremely hard, but we have to really work inside ourselves and recognize the ways we make things worse than they need to be with anger and frustration.
