None of us want to be judged, or at least not negatively anyway, we want to be seen for all our positive traits being hard-working, loyal, honest, caring, giving. However, judgement can do more than just cause someone emotional pain and distress, judgments can lead to even more significant hurts.
I went 5 years undiagnosed after searching and searching for answers to my rare medical condition mitochondrial disease, and after seeing nearly 60 doctors, I was finally successfully diagnosed by a physician I had found myself through diligent internet research and self-referral. I know the way I looked was a huge barrier to my getting a diagnosis for all those years, I just simply didn’t ‘look’ the part of young woman who was fighting a serious life-threatening disease… and since that time I continue to be judged that I am over-reacting to my health condition, or over-dramatizing the pain and significant challenges by family, friends, and even my health professionals, like having to again self-refer to a pulmonologist because my primary care physician would not take my complaints of shortness of breath seriously only to discover my breathing was so impaired I was close to needing a ventilator machine.
So please, if you are the one being judged, just know that you are not alone in this, and be sure you empower yourself with the few solid people in your life who have your back and truly support you and always believe you and believe in you. Don’t ever let someone else’s judgement or opinion stop you from getting wheat you deserve in life!
