In my now 16 years living with chronic illness since the age of 25 I have met hundreds of young adults with chronic illness/disability and guess what?? Not a SINGLE one wanted this life! Not one person was over-exaggerating, or attention-seeking, not one wanted to drop out of college due to symptoms, or go on medical leave form that job, apply for disability, insurance, financial or food assistance form the government, and certainly not one was enjoying a life of constant pain, symptoms, doctor appointments and the resulting alienation and isolation from friends and family.
If this is you, I see you, you are not alone, and I know you didn’t ask for any of this, and this is not some bad karma and you certainly do not deserve this pain and struggle in any way. But you CAN use this struggle and experience to grow as a person, let the hard times develop your compassion for yourself and others and let the suffering make you appreciate all the small joys all around everyday. YOU are worthy of all good things, and you are more than your disability/illness!
