My chronic illness was not the way I wanted to LEARN… and these were not the lessons I wanted learn… but after 16 years of living with chronic illness, I have certainly been taught by my experience.
I continue to find that not only in life with chronic illness, but as with most other challenges and obstacles in life, I always have a choice, and that choice is to be torn down by the challenge, and make myself small and give-in, or give-up… OR I can allow the hardship to strengthen me, and to teach me to become an even better version of myself.
My experience with chronic illness has taught me humility, patience I never knew I could muster, grit and determination, deep care and compassion for others and the world at large, increased my gratitude in all I have in my life, and has steered me towards my growing faith which I am not sure I would have found otherwise.
I know it is not always the easy choice, but the choice is always there for you no matter the circumstances; choose to be taught by your situation and spread that knew found inner strength and knowledge to others around you every day.
